Lanesboro Outdoor Activities

Lanesboro is a peaceful and slow paced town, but don't think you can't work up a sweat there! It's located along the banks of the Root River, and the river is truly the town's finest resident. Graceful and magnificent, the river beckons the Lanesboro traveler to partake in a number of exciting activities. One of the highlights of Lanesboro's outdoor activities includes the 60 mile Root River State Bike Trail that follows the path of the river and an abandoned railroad bed. The bike trail leads you through acres of wildflowers and takes you over 300 foot bluffs in that offer an opportunity to stop and take a breath, drink some water or just enjoy the view. This trail accommodates both seasoned and novice bikers. If bringing your bike is impossible, don't worry. You can rent one—along with fishing equipment, kayaks and canoes. And if your feet are your favorite mode of transportation, then all you need is a good pair of shoes and you can find yourself hiking through stunning landscapes.
