Museums & Places of Interest

Much of Eureka Springs' charm comes from the intriguing history it holds. Bed and breakfast lodgers will find that several museums and sites located across Eureka Springs have fascinating stories to tell. A perfect start would be to take a tour of the Eureka Springs Historical Museum located in the 1889 three-story Calif House. The exhibits include the remarkable history of Eureka Springs and the health benefits of its mineral springs as well as the artwork of several renowned local artists. Then for a different look into the history of Eureka Springs, visit the Last Precinct Police Museum and explore the displays of police cars, weapons and uniforms. To change the pace a little, check out the amusing Frog collection at the Frog Fantasies Museum and the fun exhibit of collectables at the 1890's Button & Doll Museum. If you prefer bells, there's thousands at the Hammond Museum of Bells. When you're finished visiting the museums, take a tour of the Quigley Castle on the National Register of Historical homes. In 1943, Elsie Quigley designed this unique home with 32 windows so she could bring nature indoors. On the grounds surrounding the home there's lovely garden paths with hundreds of flowers, lily pads and birdbaths that Elsie created from her unusual rock collection. But to see a one of a kind building featured on Ripley's Believe It or Not list, visit St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church or the Blue Springs Heritage Center to learn about the lives of the prehistoric civilizations, American Indians and the early settlers of the Ozark region.
