Museums & Places of Interest
Visit the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center to learn about the history, the food, the art and the culture of the Pueblo people. Every weekend the center sponsors live Native Indian dance performances for your enjoyment.
A truly unique experience includes a visit to the Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque Balloon Museum. The museum is dedicated to balloonists Ben Abruzzo and Maxie Anderson in honor of being the first to complete a non-stop gas balloon flight across the Atlantic. Some of the exhibits include a World War I observation Balloon, rare books on the first balloon launchings of 1783, stratospheric gondolas, as well as balloon equipment and memorabilia.
The historic Old Town area is a charming place to visit. The history of Albuquerque is displayed perfectly in the 18th century adobe architecture and the gazebo in the "La Placita" (little plaza in Spanish). The rare shops, the artwork, the restaurants, the galleries and the seven museums are all part of Old Towns 300 year-old heritage. While you're in Old Town, take a look at the art and history of New Mexico at the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, or visit the New Mexico Natural History of Science Museum and discover billions of years of natural history.
