Parks & Recreation
No bed and breakfast getaway is complete without some outdoor activities. Just eight miles outside of Cooperstown bed and breakfast travelers will find amenities galore at the Glimmerglass State Park. The park offers nature tails with views of the lake and a wide variety of plant life. During the summer months, visitors come to the park for camping, swimming, biking, fishing and hiking, or merely to enjoy a picnic by the lake. In the winter, ice-skating, cross-country skiing and ice fishing are available. While you're at the park, be sure to take a tour of the 200-year-old Hyde Hall Mansion and the Covered Bridge, one of the oldest in the country.
Some other interesting things to do in and around Cooperstown include a visit to the Fly Creek Cider Mill and Orchard. Tour the water- powered mill, observe the making of apple cider, then try a sample. The gift shop offers specialty foods such as aged apple cider cheese, fresh fudge and cider ice cream floats.
