San Diego Missions
There are two missions in San Diego worth touring. The San Diego de Alcalá was founded on July 16, 1769 by Blessed Junipero Serra and is California’s first church.
Today the Mission is an active parish church and cultural center.
Make time to visit the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, located in Oceanside. It was founded on June 13, 1798 by Fr. Fermin de Lasuen and currently operated by the Franciscan Friars of California. Guided and self-guided tours, a museum, gift shop, Franciscan Retreat Center, and Cemetery as well as various functions and events are available. Visitors are welcome to stroll through the Mission Church and surrounding grounds and to attend weekend mass.
After a tranquil visit to the majestic San Diego missions, return to your bed and breakfast for a relaxing afternoon spent reading in the garden, soaking in the hot tub, or sipping wine and tasting cheese during an afternoon bed and breakfast wine hour.
