The Beautiful Outdoors
 The Blue Ridge Parkway was built to view the incredible beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Parkway covers 469 miles and connects the Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains National Parks. There are a number of places to stop and appreciate the natural wonders and cultural history of the region, and plenty of areas to picnic, hike and camp. Chimney Rock Park is another perfect place to reconnect with nature. Enjoy the fresh mountain air, the scenic hiking trails and the refreshing mists of Hickory Nut Falls. There’s also a Nature Center, a Native Plant Nursery, a variety of special events and much more.
Pisgah National Forest offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the country, and there are incredible recreational opportunities including hiking, biking and camping. The Pisgah National Forest is especially noted for its easy access to many beautiful waterfalls. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is world renowned for the diversity of its plant and animal life, the beauty of its mountains, and its Southern Appalachian mountain culture. It’s no surprise that the park attracts over nine million visitors each year. Once a part of the Cherokee homeland, the Smokies are now the perfect destination for hikers. |
