Things to do in Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara’s Stearns Wharf is the oldest working wharf dating back to 1872. In addition to the great shopping and gourmet restaurants, visitors can rent fishing gear and find their own spot on the Pier. Be sure to spend some time exploring the wonderful shops or the aquarium at the Ty Warner Sea Center. If you're feeling adventurous, take a whale-watching cruise in the afternoon.
For those who like to shop, State Street offers a variety of boutique stores as well as the Paseo Nuevo Shopping Center. You will find everything from souvenirs, hand-made gifts, clothing, furnishings and much more. So dress comfortably and bring your list, you don't want to forget anything. For a late respite from the heat, stop by one of the many coffee houses or grab a homemade ice cream with the kids.
For a day trip, consider touring the countryside on a guided tour of the Santa Barbara vineyards and wineries. Tours generally include wine tasting and a gourmet picnic lunch. As your day comes to a close check out the nightlife because there's plenty of it in Santa Barbara. The clubs are rocking after dark and the concert halls fill the air with classical and contemporary music.
Some of the most popular annual events in Santa Barbara include the Film Festival, the National Horse Show and a Summer Solstice Parade. Every Sunday along Cabrillo Blvd, local artists showcase and sell their art and crafts. Just about every weekend there is a celebration of some kind going on somewhere at one of the parks or beaches.
