Festivals in Astoria

Many bed and breakfast travelers come from far away to meet new friends at the various festivals held in Astoria. One of the most fun and unique festivals is the Scandinavian Midsummer Festival every June. This festival celebrates the town's Scandinavian heritage and the oncoming days of sunshine and warmth. While at the festival, sample traditional Nordic dishes, participate in crafts and parades, and even do a little folk dancing.

Another extremely unique event is the Fisher Poets Gathering, where fishing and maritime industry people from up and down the West Coast bring their original poetry, stories and songs and perform them for the audience. This may be your one chance to hear "Fisher Poetry,” which is art inspired by the exciting and often hard life of a man or woman who works on the sea.

A great event to watch or participate in is the Astoria Regatta, which takes place every August. The event includes (aside from the regatta) a children's parade, smaller sailboat races, and fireworks over the Columbia River. From a waterside bed and breakfast, you might even get to see the fireworks display from your window.
