What to do in Charleston

There is plenty to do and see in Charleston, so much so don’t forget to take a break and drink plenty of water as it is hot and humid during the late Spring and Summer months. To see the sights in grand style, step back in time and take a carriage ride along the streets of the historical downtown area. A walking or bus tour is well worth the experience, especially for visitors who are interested in touring the historic southern plantations. Visitors simply cannot miss the opportunity to tour a few of the lavish mansions and exquisite gardens that play an integral role in the history of Charleston, so make sure to find a tour that includes both homes and gardens. Another way to view the city would be to take a harbor tour along the shore or cruise over to Fort Sumter for a recap on where the Civil War began.

After a full day of touring, take in the Charleston night life and go dancing or listen to some local music at one of the many clubs. Dinner and the theater, or perhaps the symphony, is always a lovely ending to a perfect day in Charleston.
