Barbeques and More

Memphis is the place for barbeque. The enticing aromas of sweet and spicy that float along the streets of downtown Memphis and Beale Street will make any newly arrived Bed and Breakfast guests mouths water in anticipation. One of the most famous restaurants that specialize in barbeque is the Rendezvous Restaurant which has been in Memphis since 1948. Some bed and breakfast enthusiasts come simply to experience some of the BBQ restaurants and stands in the city that number close to 100. Indeed, Memphians seem to live for the succulent taste and delight in sharing the experience with visitors in the many festivals throughout the year, culminating in the World Championship Barbeque Contest. Held in May, this is no idle neighborhood competition. Contestants must first qualify in other contests across the United States to meet up in Memphis to compete in categories such as ribs, shoulder, whole hog and barbeque sauce. This is a sure choice for the whole family, where adults can become kids again and indulge in an oh-so-irresistible urge to lick the decadent sauces from their fingers.
If the Memphis barbeque does not tantalize your taste buds, the other dynamic restaurants will certainly leave nothing to be desired. The bed and breakfast traveler should be prepared for a fusion of flavors and cultures that combine Cajun, African, French and Spanish flavors, often all in one mouth-watering dish. Good old-fashioned Southern cooking is sure to satisfy any cravings for comfort food.
