The River Walk
In the middle of downtown, 20 feet below street level, is one of San Antonio's treasures - the Paseo del Rio or the River Walk. Charming stone paths are shaded by towering cypress, oak and willows and bordered by gardens of flowering ornamental plants. The River Walk offers something for everyone. Some areas are peaceful and park-like, while other areas bustle with activity. European-style outdoor cafes, exclusive boutiques, and nightclubs offer visitors an endless array of entertainment choices. Yanaguana Cruises, the river's floating transportation system, provides an innovative way to explore downtown San Antonio.
