There is always something “brewing,” so to speak, in Fredericksburg. With over 50 annual events and festivals bed and breakfast travelers are bound to visit during one of them. Bed and breakfast travelers will find that Fredericksburg is plentiful in beer, food and activities. For over 100 years the town holds the Gillespie County Fair in August which celebrated the music, food and traditions of the German pioneers. Fourth of July is always a big deal in Fredericksburg with fireworks displays, parades, picnics and chili cook-offs. In June there is the Cherry Springs Festival which is a four-day series of art exhibits, concerts, food and wine. And finally, Fredericksburg pulls out all the stops for their annual Oktoberfest in October. The Marktplatz (market place) in the center of town transforms into a German town celebrating with German food, music and of course lots of beer. As you can see, festivals and celebrations are not unfamiliar to Fredericksburg. Fredericksburg natives enjoy their food, brew and traditions like no other.
