Shopping
Austin offers a number of excellent shopping districts. The West Sixth Street area features a number of galleries, arts and crafts stores, antique shops, home décor boutiques and unusual gift emporiums. “The Drag,” between 21st and 25th streets on Guadalupe on the UT campus, is a hip enclave where you can explore funky to trendy clothing shops, furniture stores, underground bookstores, tattoo parlors, and other eclectic shops. On South Congress Avenue, a diverse selection of unusual shops featuring everything from furniture to folk art can be found.
The Arboretum features an abundance of shopping possibilities, including the Gap, Banana Republic, Pottery Barn, Barnes & Noble, and Bath & Body Works. The Barton Creek Square Mall has several fashion options, from Ann Taylor and Abercrombie and Fitch to Express and Banana Republic. Anchored by Sears and JCPenney, the mall also features Crabtree & Evelyn and Natural Wonders. At Highland Mall, shop at about 150 stores that include Dillard’s and Foley’s, along with such specialty clothing stores such as Gymboree, Cache and American Eagle Outfitters.
