Canyonlands National Park

Thirty miles east of Moab is Canyonlands National Park. Don't be fooled into thinking that if you've visited Arches National Park, Canyonlands offers merely more of the same. This couldn't be farther from the truth. And while the same landscape dominates-- red rocks and ground bleached golden by the sun-- Canyonlands is an experience unto itself and wholly unique. Like Arches, a paved driving road winds its way through the park, making the sights easy to see, even for those with a limited amount of time. Canyonlands is divided into three sections: The first one, "Island in the Sky", sits atop a 1500 foot mesa, literally an island in the sky. On top of this natural wonder, you can see 100 miles in any direction on a clear day. The next section is "The Needles", which attracts 4WD and mountain biking enthusiasts. The last section is "The Maze", which is wildest section of the park and considered one of most inaccessible places in the United States. Which is, naturally, The Maze's allure! This section isn't for everyone, but here you'll find vistas, views and solitude that you won't find anywhere else on earth. And one way The Maze is made accessible is through tour operators in Moab. In the town of Moab, you'll find many tour operators who will make both Arches and Canyonlands accessible and easily navigated.
