Moab Museums

Although you should visit the national parks while on your bed and breakfast getaway, you don't have to leave Moab to get to know its surroundings. There is plenty to do in Moab itself. The town of Moab is an organic offshoot from its landscape; its surroundings are an essential part of the town's identity. One way to experience this is at the Moab Area Museum, which traces the town's past, from the Native Americans, to the Spanish settlers, to the current day residents. Also on display at this museum is a mineral and geological display that will explain the formation of the unique red rock landscape. One display at the Moab Area Museum that both kids and adults will love is actual dinosaur bones! Another museum that is definitely worth a visit is the Film Museum at Red Cliffs Ranch. Hollywood discovered Moab a long time ago-- when famed director John Ford was making westerns starring the likes of John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. Many current movies have been filmed here as well, making this museum a real exciting stop for film buffs. The museum is self-guided and free of charge, making this a truly wonderful stop for a family visiting Moab.
