Stowe, Vermont City Guide

For over 20 years, Pamela Lanier's Stowe, Vermont Travel Guide has been your connection to Stowe's tourism community with invaluable details on local attractions, restaurants, shopping, museums, history, outdoor recreation and more.

Dining and Entertainment

Despite its small town atmosphere, Stowe offers award wining restaurants that rival those of Boston and Providence. Featured in Bon Appétit, SKI Magazine, The Wine Spectator, and Gourmet, Stowe has solidified its reputation for great food, incorporating locally grown produce and fresh dairy products. From eclectic bistros featuring local Vermont fare, to micro-bew pubs, Italian trattorias, country inns with amazing culinary creations, and some incredibly good old fashioned Yankee dining values, Stowe’s sure to please any foodie. If you have time, stop by the Trapp Family Lodge, owned by the family who inspired the Sound of Music, for live harp music in the main dining room and European cuisine, a mix of Austrian and American fare. After dinner, you may choose to meander over to one of Stowe's local pubs. The Shed brews its own beers, while the Matterhorn Bar is usually packed with skiers warming up after a day on the mountain.

If a relaxing evening under the stars is not enough entertainment for you, not to worry, Stowe offers a number of nightclubs, live music, the Stowe Performing Arts, the Stowe Theatre Guild, movie theatres, and much more. Probably one of the most entertaining and beautiful cities in North America, Stowe is a great bed and breakfast destination you are sure to remember for years to come.
