Cultural Attractions in Richmond
While Richmond is steeped in the history of America's early wars, there are other ways that Richmond is culturally significant. One interesting place to visit is the Edgar Allan Poe Museum, where you can honor one of America's most cherished and revered writers. You can even pick up a copy of some of his works to take back to your bed and breakfast with you. (Although you may not want to read it at night!) Another place of cultural interest is the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Here you will find works by traditional American artists such as Winslow Homer and also international artists like Pablo Picasso. If you want to get back to nature, head over to the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, where you'll find more than 40 acres of beautiful, exotic plants. One place you must not miss is Jackson Ward-- called "Harlem of the South" and rich in the history of African American contributions to both the region and the country. By the end of a full day exploring Richmond's cultural attractions, you'll be glad to head back to the comfort and tranquility of your bed and breakfast.
