Richmond Folk Festival
Richmond has lots of special events and festivals throughout the year. So many, in fact, that it's easy to plan your trip around one! Richmond locals are pleasure-seeking, vibrant people who are ready to have fun at any moment's notice! Taking a part in the local festivals and events will surely acquaint you with this side of the city. The biggest event of the year (it draws crowds of up to 20,000 people!) is the Richmond Folk Festival in October of each year. Set against the dramatic backdrop of downtown Richmond, you'll enjoy live music, energetic crowds and all the food you can handle! The Richmond Folk Festival traces the roots of the United States through music, which is appropriate: after spending the day exploring Richmond's history through historical sites and museums, an artistic rendering of these same events is both poignant and enlightening. Wherever you go, explore, eat or play in Richmond, you'll be both entertained and moved-- this city, so important and vital to our nation's history, can really kick its shoes off and have a little fun. That's what makes a stay at a Richmond bed and breakfast so exciting!
