Fabulous Festivals
Beginning with the Empty Bowls Festival in January, wrapped up by Christmas Festivals in December, Leavenworth is one of THE best festival locations anywhere in the world.
As the leaves fall and the weather becomes crisp, bundle up for the Washington State Autumn Leaf Festival. The colorful fall season is ushered in with a Grand Parade, continuous entertainment, food booths, and activities for the whole family. A Washington city wouldn’t be a Bavarian village without Oktoberfest. Leavenworth’s festival is a pleasure not to be missed. International entertainment, German food and drink, arts and crafts, and an Oktoberfest Breakfast and Marathon make this event truly Bavarian.
At the Bavarian Ice Fest, visitors will thoroughly enjoy the downtown winter games. This winter “play day for all ages” includes sleigh rides, snowshoeing, dog sled rides, skiing, and a brilliant fireworks display on the final evening.
As the weather warms, celebrate spring Bavarian style at the 3-day Maifest! During the Grand March parade, villagers and many visitors dress in traditional Bavarian costumes as they dance through the streets. Enjoy flowers, weekend entertainment, and delicious food.
A wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Christmas season is the Chriskindlmarkt, Leavenworth’s Annual Bavarian-style market for the whole family. Browse the craft and food vendors, relish the endless entertainment, and invite the children to decorate a lantern. The year won’t be complete without the town’s annual, nationally renowned, Christmas Lighting Festival. With entertainment, holiday personalities, and a ceremonial lighting of the town, the Festival is an emotional celebration during a magical season.
