Outdoor Activities

However much there is to do indoors, it is in the outdoors where Spokane truly shines. The outdoor activities are plentiful and found in beautiful, well maintained parks and recreation areas, lovely for an afternoon stroll from your bed and breakfast. Picnic in Sullivan Landing and admire the view of the boulder strewn river bank, or head over to Manito Park to admire the greens and flowers (some innkeepers will pack you a lunch if asked). The flower beds at Manito Park are wonders in and of themselves, expertly maintained and immaculate. The two outdoor areas for which Spokane is most known is Riverfront Park and the Centennial Trail. Riverfront Park is located in the heart of downtown Spokane and offers 100 acres of recreation and relaxation. Here is where you will catch a live outdoor concert or watch the city light up at dusk. Take a gondola ride through the winding river or catch a fun trip around the Historic Carousel. Northwest of the city, the Centennial Trail is a world renowned nature trail that stretches from the Idaho border and follows the Spokane River for 37 miles. This trail offers bicycling, hiking, strolling and picnicking opportunities that are unique to this area. If you feel like hitting the water, no problem. Bring a canoe, a kayak, or just dangle your feet into the crisp water.
