Overview of Key West

Key West, located in the gorgeous crystal clear water between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, is the southernmost city in the continental United States. The island is close to both Cuba and the Caribbean, and this exotic combination has molded Key West into a unique culture unto itself. Key West has attracted generations of artists and writers including Ernest Hemingway, Robert Frost, John James Audubon, Tennessee Williams, Elizabeth Bishop, Philip Caputo, and Jimmy Buffet. More Pulitzer Prize winners have lived in Key West per capita than any other city. Laid back, with swaying palm trees and warm breezes, this two- by four-mile island is paradise found.
