Durango Shopping & Dining

The town is reminiscent of all those old cowboy movies you've watched where the woman shops at the general store while the men drink beer across the street in the saloon. In actuality, women and men alike shop in various stores ranging from area art to sports gear. Start your shopping excursion on historic Main Street where one-of-a-kind stores and boutiques are nestled among fantastic restaurants, and before heading back to your bed and breakfast you can hit the larger stores at the Durango Mall and Main Avenue Mall, if need be. The restaurants are mostly Southwestern and serve huge portions. You'll never go hungry in Durango. Many restaurants rely on locally grown products such as beef, fish, and wild game, not to mention the delicious honey, spices, and cheeses, and chocolates. Sink your teeth into dishes and desserts that are the southwest’s most mouthwatering. The cafes and breweries are especially packed in the evenings with visitors and locals boasting about their skiing or kayaking adventures. Carriage rides through town after dinner are fun and warm, and you can look forward to returning to the luxurious comfort of your bed and breakfast at the end of your ride!
