Daytona Beach Activities & Attractions

With 23 miles of sandy white beaches open 24-hours a day and free to the public, it’s not hard to imagine why people love the seaside in Daytona Beach. The beaches have public restrooms, lifeguard stations, off-beach parking, and many are handicapped accessible. From May 15 to October 31 sea turtles emerge from the water at night to lay their eggs in nests dug into the dry sand and they then return to ocean. Two months after the eggs are laid, the baby sea turtles hatch and crawl to the ocean. To protect the turtles and the fragile area, parking and driving is prohibited in designated conservation areas. It’s important for spectators to watch the turtles from a distance of at least 30 feet so as not to disturb the natural process.

Known for speed, Daytona Beach is home to numerous raceways, including the world-famous Daytona International Speedway. Don’t worry if you aren’t in town for a race, you can still enjoy the Daytona 500 experience. Fans will make lasting memories through hands-on activities, challenging thrills, and one-of-a-kind sights. Take Daytona Dream Laps, hop into the Richard Petty Driving Experience, check out the Coca Cola IMAX Theatre, test your skills in Acceleration Alley, and learn about the Dupont Technology of Speed. There’s truly something for everyone at the Daytona International Speedway, casual observers and serious fans alike will be thrilled with their visit.

The waters of Daytona Beach aren’t only for frolicking in the waves; you can go surfing or kayaking, parasailing or boating, or even take an airboat ride. Rent a jet ski, take surfing lessons, and take a banana boat ride. The fun never ends!

Daytona Beach is also home to numerous outstanding cultural venues and events. From the summer concert series at the bandshell and Broadway-caliber performances, to the Daytona Beach International Festival and the Daytona Beach Symphony Society, there’s sure to be a performance that will perfectly suit your taste in music or theatre. For a more mellow cultural experience, visit the museums and galleries of Daytona Beach. You’ll discover museums of photography, African American Arts, minerals, history, and even the tallest lighthouse in Florida.

Enjoy the great weather and world-class golf in Daytona Beach. More than 20 courses await you, boasting famous fairways designed by golfing legends. Many bed and breakfasts are located near these courses, so try searching by Golf and/or Outdoor Sports for a bed and breakfast nearby. For those who prefer to swing a racket rather than a club, tennis clubs abound in Daytona Beach. From city courts available for reservations to the USTA Florida Tennis Center, there’s something available for every skill level. After you work up a sweat on the court or course, indulge in a hot shower at your bed and breakfast before enjoying a late-afternoon catnap on a veranda chaise lounge.
