Manchester Seasons

Many of the outdoor activities you can enjoy while visiting Manchester are seasonal in nature, probably one of the best reasons to plan return bed and breakfast sojourns at different times of the year.
Winter covers the Manchester landscape with a blanket of white. It’s time to head for the slopes or the trails for some outdoor fun. The ski resort at Bromley Mountain is the closest to Manchester and offers 45 trails and glades with a variety of difficulty levels making it skiing and snowboarding heaven. An added advantage is that this is the only mountain in Vermont with a southern exposure so the sun will warm you even on the coldest days. The Hildene Ski Center has 14 km of trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Snowmobile tours are available at Equinox Snow Tours, guiding you through the Green Mountains where you’ll see wildlife and be awestricken with the breathtaking view as well.
Spring brings warmer weather and although you can still ski, in Vermont it’s maple syrup season. In March, at sugarhouses throughout the state, as well as in Manchester, the public is welcomed to celebrate the season with activities and demonstrations of the maple sugar process. While all states have a state flower and bird, Vermont has a state flavor and it is maple. Book your bed and breakfast accommodations well ahead so you won’t miss out on the fun. Your B&B innkeepers will have dates and details to help you plan your visit.
Summer graces Manchester with long days and warm weather perfect for biking or hiking along the miles of trails. The Mount Equinox Skyline Drive is a 5.2 mile toll road for automobiles only overlooking the village of Manchester. With a picnic prepared by your bed and breakfast innkeepers you can select a marble table at one of the many picnic areas from which to enjoy the spectacular view while eating. Golfing is also a wonderful way to spend the lovely days of summer. There are a great selection of courses in Manchester and surrounding cities. Ask your bed and breakfast hosts for assistance with directions and tee-off times when driving to a course outside of Manchester. Bromley Mountain provides great summer fun with the longest alpine slide in America, miniature golf and an outdoor waterslide and it’s all with a view.
Some will argue that autumn is the most beautiful time of year visit. Book your bed and breakfast accommodations early as the tourists flock when the colors of fall paint the landscape. Late September and early October are the best time to enjoy the colorful spectacle. Golfing is still great but the days have shortened so you’ll need to head out earlier to finish your game.
