Fun For Everyone
In Vancouver there are numerous activities to keep the whole family active and entertained. Summertime visitors will delight in the Bard on the Beach Festival located on the waterfront in Vancouver’s Vanier Park. The magic of Shakespeare comes to life every June through September under open-ended performance tents set against a staggering backdrop of natural beauty. Past performances have included King Lear, Twelfth Night, and The Tempest, and special events such as Bard BBQ & Fireworks, Opera & Arias, and Chatterbox Tuesdays. A ticket to the Giggle Dam Dinner Theatre is an unforgettable crowd pleaser. Before the real fun gets started, guests will enjoy a delicious four-course meal while cast members wander about entertaining diners with impromptu humor. After dinner, patrons will find themselves on the edge of their seats as they watch (and interact with!) the rapid-fire comedy skits, musical parodies, and impersonations. The Giggle Dam has four shows each year, and reservations are recommended for this unspeakably entertaining outing. The Vancouver Art Gallery is dedicated to reflecting the creativity and dynamic energy of the city it calls home. Located in the heart of downtown, the Gallery hosts cutting-edge exhibits as well as works of significant historical artists. At any given time, 2-3 exhibitions are borrowed from other institutions and 10-12 are developed in-house. At the Vancouver Aquarium, visitors will wander into Canada’s largest aquarium and discover amazing animal encounters around every corner. Visitors can come face-to-face with beluga whales, become an honorary marine mammal trainer while taking a trainer tour, and witness the delicate beauty of more than 8,000 butterflies in the Amazon Gallery. Shopping is a must on Robson Street in Gastown or through the markets on Granville Island. Vancouver boasts a wide range of shops from high-fashion boutiques to street markets offering something for everyone. Vancouver nightlife is a thriving mix of lively music venues, cozy pubs, and hip dance clubs. Two popular late-night destinations are Denman Street and Davie Street Village. Local casinos offer numerous attractions as well as slot machines and games tables. Whether in the mood for a charming Irish pub, an energetic performance by a local band, or a late-night round of 21, Vancouver will keep visitors up well after the sun goes down.
