Shopping & Dining
When it comes to shopping, charming Victoria has it all, and the historic downtown area is good place to start. So just hop on a bicycle cab and you'll be on your way to some of the most interesting retail shops, boutiques, book stores, art galleries, coffee houses and restaurants. But if you're looking for that special antique to bring home, you may want to browse the antique galleries at Antique Row.
For those one-of-a-kind unique purchases, the shops at Trounce Alley will please the most ardent of shoppers. A fabulous place you won't want to miss out on is Chinatown. The sidewalk stands, the restaurants and the hidden shops down the narrow alleys, such as Fan Tan Alley, are well worth the effort. There are also some very colorful outdoor markets that are not only fun and entertaining, but are filled to the brim with local culture and delicious homemade treats.
When you're tired and need a break from all this wonderful shopping you may want to stop for lunch at one of the outdoor cafes or for a pleasant cup of tea and crumpets at one of the English Tea rooms. Or perhaps you're interested in going to the marina so you can sit by the water and enjoy the view while sipping a nice cold glass of artisan ale or a glass of fine BC Ortega wine. Just remember dinner is whatever you want it to be-- traditional fish and chips and a game of darts at an English Pub, a juicy burger and a soccer game on a big screen TV at a sports bar, or how about an elegant bistro with a piano player and your choice of wild smoked salmon, a petite tenderloin, oysters or a light vegetarian dish cooked to perfection by one of Victoria's world class chefs. |
