Montreal’s Underground City has allowed shopping to become a year-round pursuit. The Métro conveniently links subterranean passageways that are heated in winter and air-conditioned in summer. This vast complex includes two major department stores, at least a dozen huge shopping malls, and more than 1,000 boutiques.
Above ground, Montréal has something for every taste and budget. For the sophisticated, upscale boutiques, art galleries and jewelers can be found in the Museum Quarter. Saint-Denis Street offers the trendiest couturiers, whereas those who pride themselves in being a little off-beat can spend the day perusing the numerous second-hand stores for choice vintage pieces.
