Naples, Florida City Guide

For over 20 years, Pamela Lanier's Naples, Florida Travel Guide has been your connection to Naples's tourism community with invaluable details on local attractions, restaurants, shopping, museums, history, outdoor recreation and more.

Beaches, Golf, fishing & more

Naples has been voted the best beach in America by the Travel Channel with its cleanliness and pristine white sand. There are also plenty of water activities to keep Bed and Breakfast guests busy. There are many beaches where you can spend your day enjoying a game of sand volleyball, splashing in the ocean and having a picnic in one of the many beach gazebos.

You also have the option of spending the whole day out ON the water! With the year round temperate waters of the Gulf of Mexico, Naples is a great spot to catch a number of species of fish. If you prefer to fish in solitude, there are many docks and marinas to choose from, or you have the option of hiring a fishing charter boat for the day. Experienced guides will lead the way to a memorable fishing experience. Other water sports allowing you to soak up the sun and water all day include kayaking, jet skiing, parasailing and canoeing.

If you carry your clubs everywhere you go, then you’ll be sure to love Naples for its golfing. Golf lovers flock to Naples to try out one of the 80 challenging and award-winning golf courses. A day out on the green can be just as relaxing as a day on the beach!
If you prefer the ball park to a day on the course, you’ll want to take a short drive down the road from this tropical retreat. Both the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox spring training are located just thirty minutes from the heart of Naples, allowing visitors to get a sneak peak of the season to come.

If sports are not at the top of your to do list, Naples offers so much more. The Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens features a paved path that winds nearly a mile past rare and beautiful animals. The zoo also features live presentations and shows that the children will not want to miss! If a little bit of exploration and adventure is needed during your stay, the Florida Everglades are a short drive down the road. Take an airboat ride or go on a nature exploration by foot, kayak or canoe spotting dolphins, alligators, manatees and birds along the way. Just five minutes east of downtown Naples is the Collier County Museum where B&B guests can journey back in time over a million years. The museum features two historic cottages, a working archaeology lab, a Seminole village, tropical orchid house, wildlife displays, a 1910 steam logging locomotive and a recreated Seminole War fort all sure to keep any history buff busy all day!
