Dining in Amsterdam
As you wind down your day, pop into a local pub or perhaps sit down to linger over dinner. You have options aplenty in Amsterdam. From traditional Dutch fare to French cuisine and Indonesian delicacies, there are many fine restaurants to choose from. With over 800 lunchrooms and restaurants, and 1000 cafes and pubs, you’re sure to find just the taste you’re after.
If you’d like to sample the local cuisine, try one of the Dutch pancake houses or traditional Amsterdam cafes. A Dutch pancake is larger and thinner than an American pancake and thicker and larger than a French crepe. Your choices range from sweet to savory with almost any number of toppings to choose from. Amsterdam cafes and bars embody coziness and comfort, though each atmosphere is decidedly different. The west side of Amsterdam has a more local feel, and downtown in the heart of the city is where you’ll find a greater nightlife vibe. Many restaurants close at 10pm, but you’ll find a selection of late-night cafes, pubs, and take-out options to choose from when in need of a late-night snack. |
