Exotic, Tempting Cartagena

Nearly preserved, this exotic Columbian city is one of the world’s best kept destinations. Not overrun with tourists or tacky shops, visitors have the unique opportunity to enjoy this ancient Spanish city as the locals have enjoyed it for hundreds of years. The Spanish and Caribbean architecture is awe-inspiring, walking the streets, passing from building to building, stepping into a boutique hotel or bed and breakfast for a quick tour, is by far the best way to experience this small city. If you get lost, just stop at the ancient city wall in front of you and back track to your starting point, the entire city is closed in by four nearly pristine “murros,” one of which features a walkway along the top featuring incredible ocean views as the sun sets.

Cartagena offers all you expect from a Latin American getaways from pulsating salsa music, to sweet, exotic liquors, fine dining at five-star eateries, fresh seafood caught that day, sandy white beaches, restored colonial mansions, intimate bed and breakfasts, friendly people and a laid back atmosphere that encourages late afternoon siestas and celebrating into the wee hours of the night. Affluent in culture, rich in romance, and full of fabulous bed and breakfasts, the most discerning traveler is guaranteed to enjoy lovely Cartagena and will undoubtedly return again.
