Cortona Highlights
Even though it was long in a fairly under visited corner of Tuscany, Cortona never became an abandoned city. In fact, these relatively quiet past 100 years have helped to preserve this ancient city for today’s visitors. In the summer, the city hosts an outdoor film festival in the Parterre Gardens behind San Domenico. The art treasures, medieval architecture and divine food ensure a steady stream of tourists.Piazza della Republica is one of Cortona’s main squares, a good starting point to explore the city. At the end of your day strolling through the endless winding streets, come back to the Piazza to enjoy café shops and restaurants nearby. The Piazza comes to life at night.
