Cuernavaca Activities & Attractions
Surrounded by natural energy sources, including volcanoes, rocks, and springs, Cuernavaca spas pamper not only your body but also your mind and spirit. Indulge in special treatments that include hot stone massages, steam baths, hydrating facials, body firming treatments, mud wraps and shiatsu. Many spas also offer facilities for playing tennis, golf, basketball, as well as gorgeous trails for hiking, not to mention restaurants serving outstanding spa cuisine.
Cuernavaca museums offer bed and breakfast visitors a wonderful introduction to local history and culture. Cortes Palace was once the home of Hernan Cortes and later served as the legislative headquarters for the state of Morelos before becoming a museum in 1974. Inside the palace visitors will see Diego Rivera murals adorning the walls, depicting scenes of the Conquest, the history of Cuernavaca and the Mexican Revolution. Inside the Robert Brady Museum you’ll find more than 1,300 works of art including Frieda Kahlo paintings as well as colonial pieces. This Spanish Colonial home was once part of the Franciscan monastery and is located behind the Cathedral of Cuernavaca.
The Borda Garden boasts public gardens, pools, and fountains that have been restored from the 1700s when Jose de la Borda’s vacation home was turned into a botanical garden. A weekend visit to the Borda Garden allows you to stroll through booths set up by arts and crafts vendors selling a variety of items, and open air concerts are regularly held in the garden, delighting visitors with wonderful music in a magnificent natural setting.
A few National Parks are closely located to Cuernavaca and provide a wonderful opportunity to explore local trails and view native species. Return to your bed and breakfast after exploring the local scene and relax with an afternoon cocktail or under the shade of a tree in the colorful, verdant garden.
