Introduction & History

The exquisite city of Guadalajara perfectly blends the old with the new. Tourists, artists, writers and poets come from all over the world to enjoy this historical Mexican city. The rich traditions and vibrant culture leave you wanting more. Fine colonial architecture, delightful plazas, and world-renowned Mexican cuisine demand at least a few days stop in this warm and welcoming city.

The admirable city of Guadalajara dates back to the 1500's. The city was fortunate to have survived several relocations, continuous attacks from local tribes, wars, revolutions and even an earthquake. Throughout the years, the proud people of Guadalajara moved earnestly forward from one century to the next, never being fully defeated by any struggle set in their path. Natural resources such as silver, timber, and agriculture were, and continue to be, stable resources for regional trade and exportation. When the rail link with California finally arrived, the city expanded the trade industry by making use of this a new and easy means of shipping and travel. By the 19th century Guadalajara was the second largest city in Mexico with a strong hold on the industrial industry. Today, this modern city has been able to adhere to tradition without hindering its development.
