What to do in Guadalajara
There is never a dull moment in lovely Guadalajara or enough time to take in all that this wonderful city has to offer. Guadalajara celebrates her cultural heritage by being the Mariachi center of Mexico and the world. Every year she showcases Mariachi and other Arts through the Festivales de Octubre (October Festival) and The Mariachi Festival each Fall. Regardless of the time of year, visitors can slow down the pace a little and stroll over to the Plaza of the Mariachi, listen to an authentic Mariachi Band, and perhaps grab a bite to eat from one of the local vendors. To tour the city in style, a horse-drawn carriage ride around the downtown is well worth the effort. The whole family will enjoy an afternoon at the rodeo and for the strong at heart, a traditional bullfight. For theater enthusiasts, try the historical Degollado Theater which hosts many concerts, opera, ballet and other performances throughout the year. As the day comes to a close, the nightlife in Guadalajara steps up a notch with great music and dancing at any of the local nightclubs and many of the restaurants.
