Special Events

With sunlight and blue skies extending right through autumn, Hawke's Bay is a great place to visit in the coming months. Catch the Black Caps taking it to West Indies, New Zealand's Annual Horse of the Year competition, and Fashion and Art awards. A concert in a natural amphitheatre, an international cricket match under lights, New Zealand’s largest horse racing carnival and Hawke's Bay's annual wine festival, are but a few of the many events that grace the region’s events calendar. Hawke’s Bay has many highly regarded event venues including McLean Park with its grassed embankment, the verdant concert settings of Mission Estate, Craggy Range Vineyards and Church Road Winery, and Black Barn Vineyard whose outdoor amphitheatre is said to be one of the country’s top outdoor venues. The Hawke’s Bay Showgrounds host many events including the annual A & P show at Labor Weekend and the weekly Hawke’s Bay Farmer’s Markets. One of the most popular events is the Brebner Print Art Deco Weekend in February, which revives the glamour, glitz and style of the 1930s. Art and cultural events are held throughout the year and include a Month of Wine & Roses in November, the Norsewear Art Awards and the Wine Country Winter Arts Festival. Our events calendar is updated regularly and features both big events and community based events.
