Often described as the “real Hawaii”, bed and breakfast enthusiasts worldwide makes this austere and beautiful island their ideal bed and breakfast getaway. Many bed and breakfast travelers resort to this island to find tranquility and peace in the quaint bed and breakfasts surrounded by tropical gardens, overlooking the Kealakekua Bay. Within walking distance from your bed and breakfast, you can sink your toes in the golden sands of the beach shore or dive head first into the cool water. For more adventurous bed and breakfast travelers, kayak or scuba dive in the bay. In Captain Cook, Hawaii, the possibilities are endless.
In 1779, Captain James Cook entered the safe waters of Kealakekua Bay, welcomed by natives who mistook Cook for a returning God. The Hawaiians soon realized he and his crews were not immortal and took their lives. A large statue, only approachable by foot or by water, rests in the site where Cook and his men ended their years of exploration.
Prior to the 1960’s, the large majority of Captain Cook was actually a vast ranch founded in the early 1850’s by an English immigrant by the name of Henry Nicholas Greenwell. Today, this picturesque hideaway attracts travelers and coffee lovers, both seeking a fragrant and peaceful land. Upon visiting Captain Cook, it will be no secret why bed and breakfast lovers continue to retreat to this serene island time and time again. So pack your sunscreen and swim suit and make Captain Cook your next bed and breakfast destination.
