Events
San Jose hosts a number of colorful fun filled events, each one attracting large crowds. Many festival and event goers arrive early to sample cuisine and browse the local handcrafts as displayed by local vendors, enjoy cold drinks, beer, ice cream, bolis, toasted plantains, confituras, and peruse handmade jewelry and clothing. One very popular event, hosted on the even year, San José is host to the biannual Festival de Arte, a city-wide arts showcase featuring theater, music, dance and film. It runs two weeks in March. Specific dates are posted as the festival draws near. Día de San José, on 19 March, marks San José's day for its patron saint with masses in some churches. The day used to be a holiday, but modernization has swayed from this approach. Come, experience the tastes, the colors, and the excitement of festival and events hosted in San Jose, Costa Rica.
