San Miguel de Allende Shopping

San Miguel de Allende has truly amazing shopping. Here you will find work from artists from every corner of Mexico because of the town’s central geographical location. Use your judgment when bartering with artisans as many have difficulty supporting themselves and their families because of the low prices. The many art galleries within the town are a tribute to the inspiration this idyllic location provides to the artists that live and have worked here. The Fabrica La Aurora is an art and design center with over 30 artists, galleries, restaurants and shops. This converted textile factory about ten minutes from the downtown square offers great Mexican as well as international art. A Thursday visit will provide you with the opportunity to view demonstrations by in-house artists.
At the Mercado Ignacio Ramirez locally called Jardin you will find jewelry, home accessories, tile and mirrors. Pewter is also readily available and reasonably priced.
A pair of San Miguel shoes is a must buy especially for the ladies as this will make walking in town much more comfortable.
Your bed and breakfast innkeepers may have other shopping ideas if there is a specific item on your list.
