San Pedro Town Outdoor Activities
Known for stunning snorkeling and diving spots, Belize’s Barrier Reef entices visitors to explore its 185 miles of reef with more marine life, coral and sponges than you can imagine. At the Hol Chan Marine Reserve you’ll set your sights on eagle rays, moray eels, parrot fish, and many other marine species. If deep sea fishing or sailing charters are your preferred ocean activity, check with your bed and breakfast innkeeper for information on deep-sea fishing excursions and sailing charter tours.
Birding fans will flock to the Lalas Bird Sanctuary in Ambergris Caye in an area near San Pedro. The sanctuary boasts 360 degree views of the Caribbean, Hol Chan Reserve, San Pedro, and Chetumal Bay. The abundant fruiting trees and shrubs attract gorgeous birds, including black catbird, golden-fronted woodpecker, hooded oriole, and Yucatan vireo.
Water sports are popular on San Pedro Island, including windsurfing, parasailing, kite surfing, and fishing. Golfers can hit the links at Belize’s Championship Golf Course and bicycles are available to rent throughout town. Ask your bed and breakfast innkeeper to point you in the right direction and set off to explore San Pedro Island.
