 The Volcano Store, otherwise referred to as the Upper Store because it is further up the hill, and closer to the national park, offers such things as drinks, ice cream, cookies, general household goods, limited amount of car parts, such as wiper blades, fuses, etc., canned goods, wine, beer, camera film, gasoline from two pumps. Please don't park parallel to the pump because then nobody else can get any. Back in towards the pump. The hoses are long enough to fit on right or left side of your car.
Referred to as the Lower Store because it is further down the hill then the other store, offers most the same items then the upper store. Prepackaged sandwiches and salads are available. In the back right at the store there are a variety of Hawaiian brochures, postcards, calendars, and information available. The store houses the only video rentals in town, which is also located all the way in the back of the store. There are two pumps at the store on a pump island so park to the left or right to it. There is a restaurant in the back of the store, and a separate building with a small gift shop. For general parking, park in front of the store or in the middle or back parking lot. It is local custom to drive in at the entrance closest to the store door, and drive out of the exit furthest away from the store.
Located right between the Upper and Lower store, the Hardware store is one of the newest additions to the town. This franchised store makes mainland options available to you.
You may also wish to try Historic Hilo Town. A walk along the waterfront shopping district will find quaint shops, restaurants, museums, farmers markets and beautiful waterside parks to mention a few of Hilo's charming sites or the Hilo Shopping Center - shopping and then some! Prince Kuhio Plaza is another Shop, shop ‘til you drop shopping excursion as well. |
