Parks & Zoos
The beauty of its natural terrain and scenic views has enticed thousands of visitors to Cherokee Park each year. After a drive along the scenic overlook you may want to stop and go fishing, biking, jogging, or try your hand at archery, it's all available for your enjoyment in Cherokee Park. If you’re seeking a place downtown to relax away from it all, look no further than Louisville Waterfront Park. If you bring a picnic and sit by the water, you may just be in time for a free concert in the park. The Belle of Louisville, the oldest operating Mississippi-style sternwheeler steamboat in existence, offers a scenic cruise along the Ohio River in style.
A day at an amusement park is certainly the highlight for most children on vacation, and Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom fits the bill. The unbelievable thrill of the Greezed Lightnin' roller coaster and the refreshing fun of a white water rafting experience may be just the thing to get your adrenaline pumping on your Louisville getaway. Bring your bathing suit because along with the games, food and excitement, there's a free water park for the whole family to enjoy. With over 1,300 animals at the 134-acre park, Louisville Zoo is a full day in itself of exploring and interacting with nature and the wild. Two new baby Addax (endangered species) were recently born in the zoo as well as a baby elephant named Scotty. Enjoy the animals and before you leave, go over to the splash park where your children can cool off under the water sprinklers. |
