Massachusetts Bed and Breakfast
Massachusetts has always been at the forefront of US history. The Pilgrims were the first European settlers to come to Massachusetts, soon to be followed by the Puritans, both groups coming to practice their religion freely. This idea became a cornerstone of the United States Constitution. Many events leading up to the American Revolution took place in Massachusetts. It was the first state to abolish slavery and at the heart of the temperance movement. There is a long list of prominent Massachusetts politicians who have served their country well. The bed and breakfast traveler can investigate so many places and find a history lesson.
If history isn't your thing, there are many sports and recreational options to consider when in Massachusetts. There's professional hockey, basketball, baseball, football and soccer games to attend. Massachusetts is home to the Basketball and Volleyball Halls of Fame as both sports were invented here. There's the Boston Marathon which is run annually on the third Monday of April. For those with a desire to participate rather than observe, Massachusetts' Atlantic shore makes sailing, yachting, whale watching, as well as deep sea fishing, activities for the bed and breakfast patron to consider. There is downhill and cross-country skiing available during the snowy months or hiking along the Appalachian Trail with its changing seasonal beauty.
Massachusetts' New England style cuisine features a delicious blending of seafood and dairy products. Two native ingredients, maple syrup and cranberries are used in delicious combinations to tempt anyone's palate. Herbs were not common in Massachusetts so many of the traditional New England dishes are not highly seasoned. Clam chowder, baked beans, hot roast beef sandwiches and haddock are specialties that every hungry bed and breakfast adventurer can delight in. The Union Oyster House is the oldest operating restaurant in the United States. Located in Boston, the building is listed as a National Historic Landmark. Of course, many of these traditional dishes have been influenced by immigrant groups that now call Massachusetts home. If you're in doubt about what's good to eat or where the best food can be found, your bed and breakfast innkeepers will be glad to share their knowledge.
Without doubt, Massachusetts is a bed and breakfast destination you'll want to return to many times and LanierBB.com has the best bed and breakfast accommodations to make each visit memorable.
