Gingersnap Cookies - Print Friendly Page

Ingredients:
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 1/4 cups sifted enriched flour
2 teaspoons soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves


Instructions:
Cream together first 4 ingredients till fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients; stir into molasses mixture. You can add a little more ginger for more of a ginger taste. Form in small balls. Roll in granulated sugar and place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) about 10 minutes. For softer cookies bake 2 to 3 minutes less. Cool slightly; remove from pan.
