Ingredients: 1 1/3 cups shortening
2 1/4 cups sugar
4 cups cake flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
6 eggs
1 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup ground hazelnuts
3/4 cup milk
3 tablespoons hazelnut liqueur
1/2 cup shortening
2-3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup cherry pie filling pureed
Instructions: Cream together shortening and sugar. Sift together flour and baking powder and add alternately to cream mixture. Blend eggs, vanilla, hazelnuts, milk and liqueur well and add to flour mixture. Pour into greased 9 x 13 pan and bake 1 hour. Cool and split in half, fill with the following cherry butter cream, blended to spreading consistency.
Melt 1 pound semi sweet chocolate and 1 1/2 cups heavy cream together and coat cake squares, chill and garnish as desired.
Chill filled cake and cut into squares
