March's Travel Tip
March is a terrific time to travel and save. As the heart of the spring "shoulder" for travel, many airlines are having their lowest fares of the year while Bed and Breakfasts are making special plans for short term vacations that include lots of fun and are easy on the wallet. Take a look at our Deals section for some great B&B packages and consider a short vacation to banish cabin fever. |
Ask Pamela
Q: We love those convivial B&B breakfasts and are thinking about having a little brunch party for friends but we both work so we have to keep it simple. Ideas please?
A: Great idea. Brunch is actually one of the easiest (and most cost effective) entertaining opportunities. I love the way many inns are now serving a side buffet consisting of cut fruit or fruit compote, choice of cereal or granola with yummy add-ins, and choice of juices. Setting up a sideboard like this will enable your guests to choose their own brunch first course and keep the service simple. Serve coffee, tea and/or hot cocoa from another location within your space. For the brunch entrée, why not choose two from our innkeeper recipes section that can be made the night before or whipped up in the morning, something like stuffed French toast or an egg casserole. Then, after your guests have served themselves the first course from the sidebar, you may join them with your hot, brunch entrees accompanied by bread and butter or a baked good of your choice. End the meal on a sweet finale with one of our Inn's fabulous tea cakes or a selection of cookies. One of the most important components of entertaining is to enjoy your guests, so grab a plate, sit down and relax.
