Memoirs of my fishing trip and the Rosemount Inn….. On arrival the pungent stench of cheap cigars tickled at my nose. Musty soil was still lightly sprinkled across the cobble stone walkway from the chef’s early morning worm hunt. Empty worm containers were scattered on the front porch with a few lucky survivors half baked in the sun. Door handles were lightly draped in perch guts & seaweed. Fresh roe (eggs) and pickled herring awaited at check in. We slipped into our fish oil robes and slippers and prepared our fishing lines for morning. I wandered the grounds & practiced casting by the blazing camp (lawn) fire. After telling tales and swilling beer, we cozied into bed. The innkeepers even remembered to put the frog under our pillow, & chocolate dipped sardines on the night stand for good luck. P.S. Now seriously guys, if you’re going on a fishing charter, we’ll pack a lunch for you, keep your catch in the fridge and have your full body massage appointments booked for your return. NOTE * All guests will rise at 4am to help Chef hunt for worms in the compost pile – bring bug repellent & a clothespeg for your nose * Fishing will not be tolerated in our pond. * Our koi can not be used as bait. |
