Banana Courtyard French Quarter/New Orleans B&B wants to make it possible for as many folks as possible to come to N’Awlins for this memorable occasion. We’ve dropped our normal 2 night stay, and reduced rates so even if you can only come for ONE NIGHT, you can join in the celebration of the World War II Museum’s new wing.

In difficult times, it is good to look back on how our country has always reached deep within all of its people to find the strength and perseverance, and ability to rise above big challenges. COME and be inspired with this magnificent, new presentation of the greatest generation’s journey from Pearl Harbor to America’s final victory in the war that changed the world. For young and old this museum provides an amazing glimpse into all theaters of the war.

WHAT: Be a part of this magnificent event. The grand opening of a new chapter in remembrance, tribute, and inspirations, begins this weekend with the latest expansion in New Orleans’ National World War II Museum.

WHEN: November 6-8. Ribbon cutting, grand opening Friday, Victory Stomp Saturday, and Sunday, Cold War Battles: The struggle for a policy".

The museum’s Victory Theater, is “a 4-D cinematic experience,” offering the film, Beyond All Boundaries produced by actor Tom Hanks incorporating vintage B&W film footage. Audiences will actually feel and experience what soldiers at the front experienced with authentic sound effects.

The film tells the tale of the Greatest Generation’s journey from Pearl Harbor into the fire of epic battles to America’s final victory in the “War That Changed the World” in the recorded words of the veterans themselves. Audiences will feel the tank treads rumbling across North Africa’s deserts, brush snow from their cheeks during the wintery Battle of the Bulge, and flinch as anti-aircraft fire tries to bring down their B-17 on a bombing run over Nazi Germany.

Adjacent to the pavilion is the Stage Door Canteen (another great John Besh restaurant) furnished like an old diner, with streaming B&W footage of a USO entertainment show of that period.

Outdoors, there is a Parade Ground where visitors can get the feel for what it was like when GIs where drilled and whipped into shape for the grueling combat that lay ahead of them on the various fronts of the war.

VICTORY STOMP: Saturday is a special night at the museum with music, dancing and food. Deacon John and the Ivories Big Band, Irma Thomas and the Professionals, Ingrid Lucia, The Victory Belles, open bar, and food by award winning Chef John Besh and The American Sector restaurant available on the parade grounds.

WHERE: In New Orleans’ Downtown Warehouse Arts District, only a few blocks past the French Quarter, it's easy to get to. From the main B&B, Walk or take the streetcar.
