Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory, in nearby Waterbury, is the most popular attraction in Vermont, drawing thousands of people every month. The 30 minute tour offers free samples of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, which vary from day to day. One of the most “interesting” areas of the factory is its Flavor Graveyard in back of the plant. The Graveyard is where Ben & Jerry's least popular ice cream flavors have been “retired”. These flavors include Bovinity Divinity, Cool Britannia and Dastardly Mash. The tours, gift shop, and scoop shop are open seven days a week, year round.
For cheese lovers, a visit to the Cabot Creamery is a must. During the past 10 years, Cabot Cheese has been awarded every national and international award for its phenomenal cheddar cheese. At the 22nd Biennial World Championship Cheese Contest in Green Bay Wisconsin, Cabot was recognized for the "World's Best Cheddar," and their Five Peppercorn Cheese was voted the "Best Flavored Cheese." Take a tour of the manufacturing plant and enjoy a wonderful selection of Vermont products at the Visitor's Center. Tours include free cheese tastings, special prices on selected cheeses and dairy products, coupons for purchases at home, a free coloring book, and free mail order catalog.
