Santa Rosa, the locations for the Alfred Hitchcock movie “Shadow of a Doubt,” is the largest city in Sonoma County. Located to the north, Santa Rosa combines art and culture, shopping, food, wine and fun. Historic Railroad Square offers several antique and specialty shops and a number of distinctive coffeehouses and restaurants. Across highway 101 is Santa Rosa’s Fourth Street, where visitors are invited to browse through a variety of shops, satisfy their cravings for delicious food, and relax beside beautiful fountains while listening to the strains of classical music.
The eminent horticulturist Luther Burbank introduced the world to over 800 varieties of plants and vegetables, and his home and gardens are open to the public. Tours include a brief description of Luther Burbank's life, an overview of his best-known plant developments, a look inside his green house, and a walk through the Burbank home with its original furnishings and memorabilia. A small admission fee is charged for the tour. The home and gardens are located in downtown Santa Rosa, on the corner of Santa Rosa Avenue and Sonoma Avenue. |
