The New York Times and Wall Street Journal once named Columbus the "Fast Food Capital of the World," but in reality, Columbus has a vibrant restaurant scene. There are wonderful eateries in the Short North, German Village, and the surrounding suburbs that offer everything from family-style barbecue to exquisite fine dining. For a fabulous, down home breakfast, try Nancy’s Home Cooking. People come for the omelets and home fries with sausage (giant chunks) gravy, and the Thursday Chicken and Noodles is always a hit. If BBQ is your thing, don’t miss City Barbeque. The restaurant is short on aesthetics, but the food, especially the ribs and the corn pudding, is outstanding.

Since 1876, the North Market has been home to local butchers, bakers, fishmongers, greengrocers and farmers. Over the years, merchant offerings have expanded to include ethnic food specialties, gourmet groceries and unique gifts. Fresh and prepared foods, flowers, ethnic cuisine, and unique gifts delight the senses at central Ohio's only public market. Across from the Convention Center, the 30-plus merchant market sits on what was once the North Graveyard.
